The Bethesda Big Train looked to keep their 11-game win streak alive as they hosted the Baltimore Redbirds on a hot Saturday night at the ballpark.  Taylor Stiles (Maryland) got the start for the Big Train and went five innings with five strikeouts, giving up four hits, one walk, and zero earned runs on the way to a 8-6 victory.

In the 1st inning, the Big Train scored two runs.  Stephen Alemais (Tulane) lead off the inning with a single and advanced to third after two balks by the Redbirds pitcher.  Logan Farrar (Virginia Commonwealth) singled home Alemais and later scored on a ground ball by Wes Rea (Mississippi State).

The Big Train kept rolling in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Kevin Tatum (Cornell) doubled after Cody Brown (Mississippi State) walked to put men on second and third base.  Stephen Alemais hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Brown, and Tatum scored on the second hit and RBI for Logan Farrar making the game 4-0.

The Redbirds were able to score a run in the 3rd inning to cut the lead to three runs, but the Big Train retaliated in the 4th.  Behind great plate discipline, the Big Train walked four times in the inning.  Rea and Ryne Willard (N.C. State) both walked in runs with the bases loaded to give the Big Train a 6-1 lead.

After another strong inning by Taylor Stiles where he struck out two batters, Cody Brown led off the bottom of 5th inning with a first pitch home run to right center field.  Kevin Tatum roped the next pitch down the right field line for his second double of the night and later scored on the second sacrifice fly of the night for Stephen Alemais.  The Big Train led 8-1 through five.

The Redbirds scored five more runs in the game including four runs in the 9th, but it was not enough to comeback and knock the Big Train off track.

Notes:  Stephen Alemais hit three singles and two RBI.... Logan Farrar had two singles, three stolen bases and two RBI....Kevin Tatum reached base four times with two hit by pitches and two doubles....Come out Sunday night for Carnival night against the Rockville Express.
