We are now a month into the season, and the snow is finally subsiding on the East Coast.  College baseball players all around the country are hitting their groove and showing to the world what type of player they are.  This round up will highlight the important stat lines of Big Train players on their college teams.

Let’s start with the players from local teams, such as Maryland, Radford, George Mason, and Virginia Commonwealth and then move down south to Stetson, Florida Atlantic, Mississippi State, Tulane, and High Point.  From there, move out west for the likes of Sacramento State and San Diego State.

Brandon Lowe (BT ’14) of Maryland has had a tremendous season so far, showing why he won the MVP award for Big Train last season.  He is batting .378 on the season, including four doubles, two home runs, and 11 RBI, while scoring 19 runs.   Lowe has posted a .545 On-base Percentage accounting for 13 walks, and 6 hit-by-pitch.

For Radford, Michael Boyle (BT ’13) has been a bright spot on the season.  In four starts, Boyle is 2-1 with a 1.80 ERA in 25 innings pitched.

Brandon Gum (BT ’12, ’15) is playing really well for George Mason.  Gum is batting .394 with 5 RBI and has an On-base Percentage of .535, accounting for nine walks.

Logan Farrar (BT ’13-’15) of VCU is providing some much needed offense for the Rams.  He is batting .325 and has also recorded 11 walks and three hit-by-pitch, giving him an On-base Percentage of .500.

Stetson has seen solid play in their bullpen from Josh Thorne (BT ’14-’15).  In nine innings, Thorne is 1-0 with eight strikeouts, posting a 2.00 ERA.

Florida Atlantic is having a very good start to their season and that is in part due to the performances of Big Train players.  Ricky Santiago (BT ’13) has continued his rampant start, batting .347 with 26 hits, including five doubles, two home runs, 10 walks, and 22 RBI.  On March 8, Santiago went 3/5 with seven RBI.  Sean Labsan (BT ’14) has seen time from both the plate and the mound.  In five games at the plate, Labsan has hit .357 with two doubles and four RBI.  Bo Logan (BT ’13-’15) has been tremendous out of the pen.  He is 2-0 with a 2.13 ERA and in 12.2 innings, he has recorded 10 strike outs and two saves.

At Mississippi State, Cody Brown (BT ’14-’15) is batting .372 with three doubles, two triples, seven RBI, and one stolen base.  Wes Rea (BT ’14) is batting .342, recording three doubles, one home run, and 11 RBI.

Tulane is still one of the hottest teams in the country.  In the leadoff spot, Stephen Alemais (BT ’14) is batting .333, accounting for 22 hits, including five doubles, a triple, and a homer.  Alemais has also tallied nine stolen bases.  After being named the Pitcher of the Month by the Louisiana Sport Writers Association, Tim Yandel (BT ’13-’15) had another solid outing in his first of the month of March.  On the season, Yandel is now 2-0 in four starts, posting a 0.68 ERA in 26.1 innings.

For High Point, Cody Manzella (BT ’14) has posted a .353 batting average, accounting for 18 hits including four doubles, two triples, and team-leading seven RBI.

At Sacramento State, Chris Lewis (BT ’14-’15) is batting .310 with three doubles, two home runs, and nine RBI.  On March 8 against #18 ranked UC Santa Barbara, Brandon Hunley (BT ’15) hit a three-run home run.

Ty France (BT ’13) of San Diego State is batting .368, recording 25 hits and 18 RBI.  Andrew Brown (BT ’14-’15) has posted a .338 batting average that includes 23 hits, while also walking eight times.
