Zach Jancarski – Outfield – (BT 2017)

-       Jancarski remains a vital piece of the Terps’ offense, pacing the lineup as the team’s leadoff hitter. Over the weekend series against the Indiana Hoosiers, Jancarski had four hits, scored two runs and drove in one. His average for the season is .337, second-best on the team, and he leads the team in runs (38), stolen bases (15) and doubles (11). He’s also proven more than capable of driving runs in, as well, as his 22 RBI is the fourth-best on the team.

George Mason Patriots

Logan Driscoll – Catcher – (BT 2017)

-       Simply put, this guy is a beast. The Freshman catcher has been on a tear all season and has officially put the entire A-10 Conference on notice. For starters, he’s riding a seven-game hitting streak, leading the team with a .342 average and has struck out only 12 times in 29 games. Over the weekend, he collected four hits, scored three runs and drove in five throughout the Patriots’ sweep against the University of Richmond. Keep an eye on Driscoll; we’re expecting big things from him this summer.

Stetson Hatters

Jacob Koos – Outfield – (BT 2017)

-       It feels like every week a former or future Big Train player is having a game for the ages, putting on a performance that truly makes you do a double-take when looking at a box score. This past week, the player responsible for such a reaction was Jacob Koos, who followed up his 3/5 performance against Florida State by going 5/5 against the University of Southern Florida. 8/10 in two games. Not bad. He’s currently on an 11-game hitting streak and leads the team with a .328 batting average, to go along with his team-leading 19 stolen bases (the next closest player has six), 42 runs (the next closest player has 32) and he also has the fewest strikeouts on the team with a mere 13 in 44 games.

Austin Hale – Catcher – (BT 2016)

-       On April 14, Hale’s batting average sat at a lowly .232. Fast-forward two weeks later and, thanks to a seven-game hitting streak (in which he accumulated 15 total hits), it now sits at .293. In the team’s two most recent games, Hale picked up four hits, drove in five (he has at least RBI in five straight games) and scored a run.

St. Mary’s Gaels

Kevin Milam – Pitcher/DH – (BT 2017)

-       To continue with the theme of Big Train players putting on outstanding performances for their collegiate teams, Milam had an absolutely phenomenal game on Saturday: in the team’s 9-8 win over Gonzaga, Milam was 5/6 at the plate with three RBI and two runs and, as if that wasn’t enough to help his team win a one-run ballgame, he also pitched the final 5.1 innings, allowing just run one while striking out six. Milam’s .325 batting average, team-leading 36 RBI and .418 OBP would be incredible numbers for any given player to have; couple those numbers at the plate with his team-leading 1.57 ERA through 28.2 innings pitched, however, and you are looking at one of the most impressive individual seasons over the last few decades. At this point, you just have to feel bad for the rest of the conference that Milam is only a Freshman – he should be terrorizing opponents for years to come.

Zach Kirtley – Infield – (BT 2015)

-       Kirtley has been a model of consistency throughout the entire season, displaying an ability to hit for both power and average. Over the weekend, he notched five hits, scored three runs and drove in four, putting his season batting average at a more than respectable .281, to go along with his team-leading 14 doubles and 31 RBI (second on the team).

Sacramento State Hornets

Vinny Esposito – Infield – (BT 2016 & 2017)

-       Esposito is the epitome of a power hitter: 20 of his 42 hits this season have been for extra bases, and this past weekend was no different. In Saturday’s 11-1 against CSU Bakersfield, Esposito went 3/4 with two triples and a homer. I repeat: two triples and a homer. He leads the team with eight home runs (fellow Big Train player James Outman is tied for second on the team with seven), five triples and 37 RBI in 42 games. We’re thrilled that Esposito will be returning to the Big Train for his second season this summer, and we have no doubt that he’ll be taking many leisurely trots around the bases.
