![]() Big Train Face Pesky Dodgers Squad in Doubleheader07/12/2017 9:09 AM

In many ways, Monday night’s Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game felt like a typical regular season home game: the Big Train had a whopping 12 representatives, the game was played at Povich Field, and the team for which the Big Train members played (South Division All-Stars) was victorious. On Wednesday, the entire Big Train squad will return to Povich Field for a doubleheader against a Baltimore Dodgers team that, despite its 13-17 record, has given the Big Train fits this season. In fact, the Dodgers are the only team that the Big Train has yet to defeat in the 2017 campaign, getting outscored in their two matchups by a combined score of 20-6. Both losses were suffered at Povich Field, where the Big Train have not been as dominant as in years past. While their 11-6 home record is nothing to scoff at, it pales in comparison to their masterful 12-2 record on the road. With six of their final nine games of the regular season at Povich Field, reestablishing home-field advantage ahead of the playoffs will be essential to the team’s chances of defending its CRCBL title. With a game against the first-place Alexandria Aces looming on Thursday evening, one that undoubtedly will carry playoff implications, it would be understandable if the Big Train was looking ahead to that pivotal contest; given the problems the Dodgers have caused for the Big Train this season, however, they would be wise to remain focused on the matchup at hand. Game 1 of the doubleheader at Povich Field is scheduled for 4 pm. Come enjoy Kids Day – fans under the age of 12 will receive free admission to both games of the doubleheader!
