This will be Will Resnik's third year in Bethesda. |
Several players from last season are set to return this summer for the Bethesda Big Train, one of which is relief pitcher Will Resnik (High Point). This will be Resnik’s third season in Bethesda, and last year he managed to improve on his already-impressive 2012 campaign. In 24.2 innings, Resnik struck out 20 batters while walking just six batters en route to a 1.82 ERA. We recently got to catch up with Resnik, who reflected on his 2013 season and also gave a little preview of what’s in store for 2014.
Big Train: What was your favorite moment of 2013?
Will Resnik: My favorite moments from last year were definitely getting the save against rival Rockville and closing it out against Alexandria to send the team to the championship.
BT: What do you think was the biggest factor in your personal success on the mound last season?
WR: The thing that allowed me to have so much success last season was definitely my teammates. The love and support for those guys was awesome and they always had my back on defense; [also] a mentality to not let the hitter beat me. Every time I went out to the mound I just wanted to win.
BT: Why did you decide to return to the Big Train in 2014?
WR: I decided to return to Bethesda in 2014 because I love it there. It’s an awesome place to spend the summer. Also, we have some guys coming back and new guys and I think it’ll be special. Finally, the awesome coaching staff is great to play for.
BT: What are you working on most this offseason?
WR: This offseason I’m working on my overall game on the mound.
BT: What are you looking forward to most about this coming season?
WR: This coming season I am most looking forward to getting back with some returning players and meeting some new ones. With the team we have coming in and the great coaching staff, hopefully we can bring home a championship.
