Big Train are Walk-Off Winners Against BCC Stars Cody Manzella rounding third to score the winning run in the bottom Of the 7th. In a well fought pitching battle, the Bethesda Big Train won in walk-off fashion beating the BCC Stars in a seven inning exhibition game held on Monday night at Shirley Povich Field. Stephen Alemais (Tulane) singled home Cody Manzella (High Point) from second base in the bottom of the 7th inning to end the game in a dramatic manner.
Devon Loomis (San Francisco) started the game on the hill for Big Train throwing two innings of scoreless ball. Loomis was dominant, throwing only 16 pitches and recording two strikeouts while sending down all six batters in order. Kit Scheetz (Virginia Tech), Luis Collazo (Virginia Tech), Will Resnik (High Point), Sean Labsan (Florida Atlantic), and Andy Frakes (San Francisco) each took the mound for one inning for the Big Train. The pitching staff let up no runs on only one hit, striking out ten batters. Returning player, Collazo, struck out the side showcasing his fastball and filthy curveball. Labsan and Loomis each had two strikeouts. In a game that was highlighted by terrific pitching, Kevin Tatum (Cornell) and Alemais led the team with two hits each. Ryne Willard (N.C. State) made two outstanding plays in the field in the first two innings of the game. |
