Up to this point in the season the Bethesda Big Train have put together an amazing season.  All players on the Big Train roster have showed that they can make an impact when given a chance.  However, coaches around the league voted that 11 players on the roster were having exceptional seasons and were deserving of all star game appearances.

 

 

Justin Morris (Maryland) 6-2, 200 lbs

 

Morris reported a little late on the season, but when he has been in the line-up he has made an impact.  In nine games this season, Morris has a batting average of .286 and an on-base-percentage of .483.  He has six hits on the season with one RBI and seven walks.  On the defensive end, Morris has yet to make an error, posting 56 putouts and two assists.

 

Tony DiLeo (Eastern Michigan) 5-11, 210 lbs

 

DiLeo has put up very consistent numbers all season, and has nearly gotten a hit and RBI in every game he has played.  On the season, DiLeo is batting .316 with an on-base-percentage of .481.  He has three doubles, one home run, and 10 walks on the season, while driving in 11 runs.  On the defensive end, DiLeo has posted a .991 fielding percentage accounting for 95 putouts and 12 assists in 14 games

 

 

Stephen Alemais (Tulane) 6-0, 180 lbs

 

Alemais is having a tremendous season, posting numbers that have put him in the tops of the league in some offensive categories all season.  In the lead off spot, he has posted a .333 batting average, which puts him fifth in the league in that category.  He has scored the second most runs with 22, and has the most stolen bases with 20 on the season, one shy of the Big Train all-time record in a season.  Alemais also leads the league in hits with 37, including five doubles and one home run.  Alemais has also tallied 19 RBI on the season, which is two behind the league lead.  On the defensive end, Alemais has made several slick plays with his glove and has accumulated 42 putouts and 59 assists.

 

Brandon Lowe (Maryland) 5-11, 185 lbs

 

Lowe joined the team late but has been a key part of the Big Train offense since his arrival.  With a .308/.403/.538 slash line, he has showed why he is a force on the offensive end in limited time.  Lowe has recorded 16 hits in 14 games including one double, one triple, and three home runs, while accumulating 15 RBI and seven walks.

 

 

Logan Farrar (Virginia Commonwealth) 5-10, 198 lbs

 

Farrar has put up big numbers on the offensive end out of the two-hole.  On the season Farrar is batting .333 with a .413 on-base-percentage.  He is tied for second in the league with 36 hits, including six doubles and two triples , and has also scored 21 runs, which is fourth in the league.  Farrar has walked 12 times and stolen 13 bases.  He also leads the league in RBI with 21 on the season.  On the defensive end, Farrar has yet to make an error on the season and leads center fielders with 63 putouts.

 

Cody Brown (Mississippi State) 5-10, 185 lbs

 

On the season, Brown has made some spectacular plays in the field while providing a power bat on the offensive end.  Brown has three home runs on the season and has a batting average of .230.  Brown has made more than one diving catch on the season, and has recorded three outfield assists which is second most in the league.  He has saved runs from scoring on multiple occasions by his arm and great hustle.

 

Kevin Tatum (Cornell) 5-9, 170 lbs 

 

Tatum has been steady at the plate all season posting a .346 batting average, putting him at third in the league and first on the team in that category.  He has posted five doubles and one triple while accumulating 10 RBI and eight walks.  Tatum has been versatile on the defensive end, playing left field and third base.

 

 

Taylor Stiles (Maryland) 6-2, 220 lbs

 

In four starts on the season, Stiles is 4-0, having thrown 20 innings.  Stiles has posted  a 0.90 ERA and opposing hitters are batting a meager .171.  His whip on the season is .9, giving up only 12 hits and six walks against 21 strikeouts.  Stiles has given up three runs on the season, and only two are earned.

 

Josh Thorne (Stetson) 6-2, 205 lbs

 

Thorne has made eight appearances in15.2 innings pitched, on the season and has posted a 3-0 record with a 2.29 ERA.  Opposing batters are only hitting .218 against him.  He has given up four earned runs on the season and 12 hits.

 

Jacob Billingsley (Mississippi State) 6-1, 185 lbs

 

Billingsley has put together a very strong summer campaign out of the bullpen.  He has pitched 13.2 innings in six appearances.  Billingsley has posted a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA while striking out 15 batters and only giving up three hits.  Opponents are hitting .068 against Billinglsey, proving his stuff nearly unhittable.

 

Sean Labsan (Florida Atlantic) 5-10, 180 lbs

 

Labsan has posted a 3-0 record in four starts on the season.  His ERA on the season is 2.61 and he has struck out 23 batters while giving up 17 hits, recording a 1.25 WHIP.  Labsan has also been valuable on the offensive end as a designated hitter.  In 18 at-bats on the season he has seven hits including three doubles, one home run, two RBI, and four walks.
