Game Preview: Big Train vs. Redbirds

Tuesday night's game will feature the two powerhouses of the Cal Ripken League as the Bethesda Big Train take on the league-leading Baltimore Redbirds. The teams were originally slated to meet on June 24, but the game was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The Big Train will be hoping for a different result after dropping their first matchup with the Redbirds 4-5 on June 10, and given the way they've been playing, the potential for one seems high. Bethesda is riding a 5-game winning streak filled with nail-biting wins and blowouts alike, the latest of which- an 11-4 victory over the Gaithersburg Giants- certainly falling in the latter category.

The projected starter for the Big Train in this key game is Chris Monaco (Virginia Tech). The junior right-hander struggled in his last start on June 16, but has displayed the ability to shut down opposing offenses. He owns a 1-0 record and 6.00 ERA in 9 innings pitched (2 starts), with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Shirley Povich Field.
