Game Preview: Big Train Faces T-Bolts in Final Regular Season Matchup![]() Sean Barry (University of San Diego) pitches against the Braves on July 14, 2016. After sweeping a doubleheader in Alexandria to clinch the South division on Tuesday, the Bethesda Big Train looks to continue their winning ways against the Tacoma-Silver Spring Thunderbolts on Wednesday. The teams have faced each other three times already this season, with this game being the fourth and final time. The Thunderbolts have won two of the three games, making Wednesday’s game Big Train’s last chance to split the season series. If the Big Train wins, they would also take a half game lead over the Thunderbolts, who are currently in first place in the Montgomery Cup. Sean Barry (University of San Diego) is Bethesda’s probable starter against the Thunderbolts. Barry currently leads the Big Train in ERA with a 1.11 mark over 32.1 innings pitched. He has 33 strikeouts, nine walks, and a 3-0 record this season. Barry has not previously pitched against the Thunderbolts. Vinny Esposito (Sacramento State) looked excellent in Tuesday’s doubleheader, going 3-for-6 with a double, three walks, six RBI including a grand slam. Esposito has been an instrumental player for the Big Train all season, batting .303 with 29 RBIs while leading the team in home runs and doubles. Look for him to continue to contribute down the stretch for Bethesda. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM at Blair Stadium. |
