Big Train Get In Win Column For Second TimeBox Score: W, 8-4 The Big Train pitching kept the team in the game last night at Blair High School, settling down after a rough first inning allowing the offense to flourish late in an 8-4 win over the Sandy Spring Takoma Thunderbolts. Eric Martin took the mound first last night at Blair Stadium, going six innings and striking out five. After giving up four runs in the bottom of the first, Martin bounced back and threw five scoreless innings giving up only two hits in that span. Martin would then turn it over to Bo Logan, who would have to be perfect if the Big Train were going to come back. Logan would inherit the four-run deficit with only two innings to go, and managed to hold the score at 4-0 in the seventh, setting up a late rally by the Big Train offense. RBIs by Adam Barry and Hunter Renfroe would pull the Big Train back within two in the top of the eighth, and after another scoreless inning by Logan, the offense had one last chance to tie the game. The Big Train responded to the pressure, scoring six more runs on clutch RBIs by Barry, Renfroe, Cam Neal and Justin McCullough to give the Big Train a four-run lead (after originally chasing a four-run deficit since the second inning), leaving it up to Logan one final time to see if the Big Train could hold on for their second win. Logan answered, not allowing a hit or a run in the bottom of the ninth, getting the win and completing his three-inning no-hit performance. Logan struck out three over that span, answering when the team needed it most. |
