Preview: Big Train Look to Rebound Against Braves![]() John Murphy (Maryland) Following a gut-wrenching loss and a rainout, the Bethesda Big Train take their show on the road against the FCA Herndon Braves Friday.
Bethesda enters the night at 21-7, good for second-place in the South Division and only a half game back from the Alexandria Aces, while the Braves sit at 12-15 and third in the South.
Friday’s contest will be another test for a Big Train offense that has come alive of late. James Outman (Sacramento State) hit his league-leading ninth home run of the season Wednesday while Logan Driscoll (George Mason) recorded two hits against the Redbirds as he tries to escape a recent slump.
The Big Train offense will go up against projected Braves starter Casey Godenberg. Goldenberg is 1-1 with a 4.83 ERA on the season. He also went six innings giving up three runs on seven hits against the Big Train in the first matchup of the year between the two teams on June 6.
John Murphy (Maryland) should get the start Friday for the Big Train as he was the scheduled pitcher during Thursday’s rainout. Murphy (0-1) has started four games for this year, registering a 3.70 ERA along with 18 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched.
The last time the Big Train and Braves met, Bethesda pulled out a tight 8-6 win. The game was highlighted by outfielder Kirk Sidwell’s (Stetson) three hits and a stellar 4.2 innings of relief pitching from Big Train ace Ty Madrigal (St. Mary’s).
First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Oakton High School. |
