However, thanks to the insanity that ensued in the 15-inning Big Train win, Bethesda enters Wednesday’s rematch against the Aces with a chance to lock-up the division title.

"We'll come ready to play Wednesday," manager Sal Colangelo said.

As it stands the Big Train are one game ahead of the Aces in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League South Division, with both having locked up playoff spots. Bethesda needs a single win over their last three games to take the division crown and earn a first round bye in the postseason.

Kevin Milam (St. Mary’s) will start on the mound for the Big Train Wednesday despite having pitched seven of his eight appearances from the bullpen. Milam currently boasts a 3-1 record with a 3.31 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched.

“I just want to give four of five strong innings,” Milam said. “At the end of the day it’s just a game. You just got to go out and do what you got to do and if [I] execute what I need to do then I feel like we’ll be successful.”

On the offensive side, James Outman (Sacramento State) and Luke Heyer (Kentucky) will look to continue their recent upticks.  Heyer enters the game on a seven game hit streak, including four home runs over that span, while Outman is on a five-game hit streak of his own. Outman also delivered the walk-off single against the Aces on Friday.

The Big Train will also get some much needed rest ahead of Tuesday’s game with an off day on Monday.

“Oh it’s huge,” Milam said of getting a day off. “It’s just one day that we’re not sweating in the humidity.”

First pitch from Frank Mann Field in Alexandria is scheduled for 7 p.m.
