Big Train College Round-Up 4/11 Bubba Derby (BT '13) was named a National Player of the Week. Bubba Derby (BT ’13) led all Big Train players this week, dominating the Air Force Falcons. In 8.1 innings, Derby gave up just one run on three hits and a walk, striking out a remarkable 15 batters. Third baseman Ty France (BT ’13) had a week of his own, going 7/15 with a double, an RBI, a walk and four runs scored. The duo helped the Aztecs to a 4-0 record on the week. While Florida Atlantic lost a close 1-0 contest on Wednesday, three Big Train arms helped keep the Owls in the game to the very end. Brandon Rhodes (BT ’14), Seth McGarry (BT ’14) and Bo Logan (BT ’12, '14) combined for seven shutout innings and nine strikeouts, giving up just two collective hits and three walks. Rhodes allowed just one hit over four innings, while McGarry struck out four batters in two innings of relief.
In Tuesday’s matchup with Virginia Tech, Logan Farrar (BT '13-14) helped carry VCU’s offense in an 11-6 victory. Farrar went 3/4 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored. The Rams are now 23-7 on the year.
