The Bethesda Big Train can put a tally in the win column as the team came up victorious over the Rockville Express, 7-0, in a game called off in the middle of the 6th inning due to rain. J.P. France (Tulane) took the mound for the Big Train and threw five scoreless innings, giving up only two hits and striking out three batters.
The scoring started early and often for Big Train, as five members crossed home plate in the top of the 2nd inning. Tony DiLeo (Eastern Michigan), Stephen Alemais (Tulane), Logan Farrar (Virginia Commonwealth), Ryne Willard (N.C. State), and Johnny Cole (Coastal Carolina) all drove in runs in the second inning with continous hard hit line drives and ground balls. The Rockville Express were rattled and were forced to take out their starting pitcher after giving up six hits, two walks, and five runs in two innings.
In the top of the third, the scoring continued for the Big Train. Kevin Tatum (Cornell) led off the inning with a single and scored on a wild pitch after getting to third base on a line drive double by Sean Labsan (Florida Atlantic). Tony DiLeo notched his second RBI of the game on a deep sacrafice fly to center field.
NOTES: Stephen Alemais, Logan Farrar, and Kevin Tatum each had two hits for the Big Train....In the bottom of the first inning, Cody Manzella (High Point) made a spectacular diving catch...The Big Train look to continue their stellar play on Thursday night in Baltimore against the Baltimore Dodgers.
