On Sunday night, the Bethesda Big Train traveled to Gaithersburg to face the Giants. Taylor Stiles (Maryland) took the mound for the Big Train and was great. Stiles went five innings, giving up only one hit and striking out eight batters, earning his second win of the season in a 5-0 victory.
Out of the bullpen first for the Big Train was Josh Thorne (Stetson), who, in three innings, gave up two hits and no runs. Tim Yandel (Tulane), who played second base for the Big Train last year, and has seen time this year at third base and as a pinch hitter, pitched the final inning of the game and left the Giants hitless.
The hits and runs started for the Big Train in the top of the 3rd inning. After back to back singles by Justin Morris (Maryland) and Kevin Tatum (Cornell), Logan Farrar (Virginia Commonwealth) doubled the two home. A threat on the base paths all season, Farrar stole third base and scored on a throwing error by the Giants catcher. Brandon Lowe (Maryland) later scored on a fielders choice after walking and stealing second base
The scoring continued and ended in the next inning for the Big Train. Justin Morris got his second hit of the night scoring Cody Brown (Mississippi state) who singled and stole second base.
Notes: Justin Morris had two hits.... Logan Farrar got his league leading 13th and 14th RBI on the season.
