Big Train visit the nation's capital for a third contest with the D.C. Grays

Tuck Tucker will make his fourth Big Train start in Wednesday's game. The rising junior is one of four Bethesda pitchers with an ERA below one.

Big Train (15-2) will make its second trip into D.C. this season when it takes on the D.C. Grays (8-11) on Wednesday in a Cal Ripken League South Division matchup.

Bethesda is coming off a 9-2 win over the Baltimore Redbirds on Tuesday night in the completion of a previously suspended game at Povich Field. The Grays completed a home win over the FCA Braves on Tuesday, 7-3.

Big Train won both of the teams’ first two meetings this season, taking the season opener in D.C. on June 5, 11-2, before winning a much tighter matchup in Bethesda on June 15, 2-1.

Lefthander Tuck Tucker (Maryland) is slated as Big Train’s starting pitcher. In three starts this season, Tucker has tossed 11.2 innings, racking up 8 strikeouts and posting a 0.77 ERA. He threw three shutout innings against D.C. on June 15, allowing one hit.

The Grays have yet to name a probable starter for Wednesday’s game.

Alec Burleson (East Carolina) continues to lead Big Train and the Ripken League in several batting categories. His 8 home runs, 27 RBI and .550 batting average are all league highs. He also picked up a pitching win against D.C. when he threw four innings in relief of Tucker on June 15.

One D.C. hitter to watch is outfielder Mitch McIntyre, who leads the lineup in hits (24), home runs (3) and RBI (14).

First pitch on Wednesday at the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy in southeast D.C. is scheduled for 7 p.m. Live updates will be available via Twitter (@gobigtrain) and Instagram (gobigtrain). As always, the Big Train radio broadcast can be found under the “Watch Live” link on the Big Train homepage.
