Personal: At Quartz Hill High School in Lancaster, CA, he chalked up a 21-2 record with
a 2.42 ERA. He was named Golden League Pitcher of the Year for both his junior and
senior years. As a freshman at St. Mary’s, he pitched in two games, allowing no runs.
In his sophomore year, he was the second most durable hurler on the staff and had a 2-
