Join the Club! Become a 2025 Big Train Member
Our really sharp looking 2025 Big Train Membership Cards arrived this week, and we will start mailing them out this weekend to the 28 members who have already joined the Club this Spring.
Do you know who owns the Big Train? YOU DO! When founders John Ourisman and Bruce Adams launched the Big Train more than a quarter century ago, they consciously named the organization the Bethesda Community Base Ball Club. Bruce and John wouldn’t own the club, nor would the generous donors who made it possible for us to build our beloved Shirley Povich Field. Our fans would own the Big Train. That’s what the COMMUNITY in our name means.
That decision places a special burden on all of us. There’s no ownership group on the hook to write the big checks to keep Big Train going. Just like your favorite theatre or music group or art museum, we depend upon charitable contributions to provide the special experience you get at Povich Field. There is no way we could produce the quality experience you expect when you come to Povich Field with just the revenue from the sale of tickets, concessions, and souvenirs. One-third of our annual budget comes from your charitable contributions.
While our main fundraiser is our annual Base Ball & Holiday Auction each Fall, contributions to our We Are Big Train Spring campaign along with the annual membership drive we started in 2024 are essential sources of income.
So this Spring, JOIN THE CLUB! Each adult who contributes $50 or more and each youth under 18 years old who contributes $25 will receive a Membership Card certifying that you are proud supporter of Big Train baseball and a card carrying member of the Bethesda Community Base Ball Club. In addition to the pride of being part of one of the nation’s most admired amateur sports organizations, your card will give you ten percent discount on tickets, food and beverages from the Home Run Cafe, and souvenirs at Povich Field. You will receive advance notice of ticket sales, new souvenirs, and other opportunities.
